This is my University work section all work from my BA (hon's) Degree Web Design is displayed here for all years.
For this module we were asked to create a major project website, do the proposal document, marketing, research, user testing and creating the site in general
Our final disseration also formed part of this module and the file is linked in the final piece section
What I proposed for my project was to create a social reviewing website for all formats of media. Books, Films, Games, Music & Tv
I wanted the site to try to build a community and try and solve the problem, that user's currently have to switch from site to site to review media like a book and then a game.
Most of the research came from my competitors at sites like..
Sites like this gave a great insight into how they work. User testing also counted for a large part of my research and was invaluable in learning how the users wanted the site look and how they wanted it to work.
I started off by working to get a viable design for the site, once that was achieved; to then start building the front end, which doubled up as a marketing site for the service.
After that the concern was to start building a a landing page for registered users so that I could start some beta testing to get feedback.
This project gave highs, it gave lows. Frustration in getting a viable design stole far too many valuable hours/days of worktime and thus impacted how the final product was handed in.
If I could of changed any one thing, then that would of been the time in which the design process took. On a positive note that work also increased my skills in designing and feel I now leave University with far far better skills in that area.
