Site Update #8

Posted September 25th, 2008 by Dan Wrigley

Here we go again, So the endless list of “things to do” on my portfolio site just gets bigger and bigger every week it seems, even when working on it lots! will it ever be completed? I’m sure I’ll fnd out soon enough.

So the updates…

  1. Started implementing the Uni work side of the site into the CMS, can now add & edit old and new briefs via the CMS and it codes itself and displays it back in the same way it would through HTML.
  2. Got the backend locked away now with custom built login screen and sessions to secure hot linking.
  3. Added a “Logout” function to the CMS.
  4. Changed the way inactive navbar links look in the CMS.
  5. Made the font size of the blog links and external links for main site smaller, they were too imposing and now more fit on a screen without scrolling.
  6. Edit Content added to homepage section in the CMS and altered the way it displays back in the main site breaking with lines, shall change that to datestamped graphic dividers when i get my hands back on Photoshop.
  7. Realised that the navbar links the main site where done in divs :O what was i thinking? now done properly as an un-ordered list.
  8. Added the “Projects” section for the blog links to show progress on my briefs.
  9. Altered how the errors appear on the contact page if the submit data is invalid.
  10. Turned the anchor links in the briefs to PHP requires as the info is constant through-out the site for briefs.

Ok so quite a bit of work done, but as I mentioned at the start I still have so much more to work on.

  • Finishing my custom built Blog
  • Adding the Showcase section to the CMS and get it working to update all content on that page
  • Developing the Showcase section of the main site properly
  • Adding the Contact section to the CMS and get it working to update all content on that page
  • Finish off the General Page of the CMS
  • Go through all the code and tidy it all up (Massive job that!!!)
  • Start working on all the graphical parts of the main site that I want, to improve the look.

Thats a very broad list as alot of other jobs fall under the same category and thought it pointless to list everything :D
